or a month haha. I started the motor swap before christmas. I am pretty sure it just some stupid sensors.
I really should have just done a direct replacement motor instead of changing motors.

So what is this motor out of and how is it different? It's cool you are getting close. I know the feeling about getting burnt out.

This motor I put in is a 01 3.8 internally balanced and has two intake runners per cylinder, my old motor was externally balance single intake runner per cylinder. The 01 motor has two temperature sensor whereas my old one had one. I did find I need my 96 cps on the 01 motor. ( I think I just need to synch it now)
People with single port v6's commonly switch the upper half to the split port motor. The split port motors come from factory with 40-some more horse because of the difference in air flow.
I am using the black windstar intake, off of the windstar vans, which is another common change people make to their 3.8. Supposedly it is a dynod 15 more horse and torque but is better for boosted applications and can handle somewhere around 20 psi.
I pulled out my plugs today and going to sync the cps. The plugs were drenched in gas ( not a surprise) so I need to get this thing synched correctly and ill give it another shot at trying to get it started. If this doesnt do it I really am not sure what is goin on and may be time to bite the bullet and get it in to a shop.

You know whats fun about a junkyard motor?
You get to chase down coolant leaks into the oil.

Yea. I got it running a lot smoother but it misses a little still. So with the mis and the leak I think I will go ahead and refresh some gaskets.

Got the head gaskets done, took it around the block ran smooth as could be. Later I took zoey for a little drive and when through the gears a little in small amount of boost and it dies on me. Now it surges every other time I put the clutch in. Does anyone have an idea what could cause this?
I am going to try both tune files ( I cannot get a hold of James and he cant seem to find the time to tell me what file he saved my tune under)
Clean the MAF
Double check pipe blowouts
Any other ideas are welcome
