I have seen them deny to run the car, but not give it a fail. They do not want to be respomsible for damage of low profile rims

The only thing that comes to my mind is the 4x4's that go in there with monster truck tires. I've see one go through with these huge tires on the front and stock small tires on the back. Idk lol

I've always heard 35s were the limit. A couple of my buddies that have jeeps have been able to test with the 35s, but the emissions techs actually pulled out tape measures to make sure they weren't over 35".
Back in highschool, one of my buddies had a riced out acura, and they wouldn't test his car because of his wheels. He had some 18s with a really low profile tire and they told them they didn't want to be liable for trashing his wheels.

Hmm odd it only says FWD and AWD
"Front wheel and all wheel drive vehicles with low profile tire sizes 17 inches or larger in diameter, or vehicles with tire sizes larger than 34 inches cannot be safely tested on the dynamometer.
Only vehicles with manufacturer-equipped undersized or oversized tires that do not fit safely on the dynamometer will be authorized by the state to undergo an idle test instead of a dynamometer test. Vehicles with tires larger or smaller than original equipment that do not fit safely on the dynamometer must be returned to stock condition for testing. Vehicles with non-original undersized or oversized tires will not receive authorization from the state for an idle test."

Also if your vehicle is too low they wont test it. When they drop my car on the rollers there is maybe 3/4" clearance between the exhaust and the rollers. My buddies car was too low and the exhaust rubbed and got a hole in it. the state had to buy him a new cat-back. When I went in to test I looked and they said if it doesnt fit on their machine they wont test it. They are getting worse.
